The Taurus Model 66 is a versatile revolver chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special +P, suitable for a wide range of shooting needs from self-defense to range practice. This medium-frame, double-action revolver was initially available with a 6-shot cylinder (discontinued in 2001) and later a 7-shot cylinder (introduced in 1999), providing options for increased ammunition capacity. Barrel lengths have varied over time, including 2 1/2-inch (1993-1997), 3-inch (discontinued in 1992), 4-inch (reintroduced in 2018), and 6-inch options to accommodate different user preferences. The grip options have evolved from checkered walnut (discontinued in 1999) to rubber (2000-2019), and more recently to Hogue rubber and exclusive Hogue wooden grips (both introduced in 2020). Finished in either black oxide or matte black oxide, the revolver includes a ramped front sight, an adjustable rear sight, and weighs between 38 and 40 ounces. Although discontinued in 1997, the Taurus Model 66 was reintroduced in 1999 and remains a favored choice for both enthusiasts and professionals.
