NAGANT REVOLVER For Sale

$260.00

The Nagant Revolver, a seven-shot, gas-seal revolver chambered in 7.62x38mmR, was designed by Belgian industrialist Léon Nagant and became a staple sidearm for Russian and Soviet forces from the late 19th century through World War II. Its innovative gas-seal mechanism, where the cylinder moves forward to seal the gap between the cylinder and the barrel when the hammer is cocked, increased muzzle velocity and made the weapon suppressor-friendly. Initially available in both single-action and double-action variants, the design standardized to double-action by the 1920s for reliability. With approximately 2.6 million units produced between 1896 and 1945, manufacturing was initially in Belgium but soon shifted to Russia, primarily in Tula. Unauthorized models were also produced in Poland. The most notable variant, the ‘Commander’s Model,’ is favored by collectors and known for its shorter barrel and grip, popular among Soviet security forces. The Nagant M1895’s unique design and historical significance make it a prized piece for collectors and historians.
