The STEYR-HAHN Model Automatic is a noteworthy early 20th-century semi-automatic pistol distinguished by its 9mm Steyr chambering, 8-round capacity, and 5.1-inch barrel. Notably, it features a fixed magazine loaded from the top using a stripper clip, blueing finish, and checkered wood grips. Initially adopted by Chile in 1911, Romania in 1912, and heavily used by Austro-Hungary during World War I from 1914, this model was produced from 1911 to 1919 with nearly 300,000 units made. In 1938, the Germans adapted some of these pistols to fire the 9mm Parabellum cartridge, marking them with “08.” Frequent service resulted in many pistols having mixed serial numbers. The STEYR-HAHN Model Automatic is celebrated for its robust design and extensive historical significance across multiple nations and conflicts.
